Because we are a fully licensed microinsurance company, unlike most insurtechs, we develop products, underwrite, process and pay claims in-house to provide a seamless, hassle-free and enjoyable insurance experience.
Casava is licensed by the Nigerian National Insurance Commission to provide General and Life Microinsurance services to Nigerians. Casava is also registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as a limited liability company.
Casava is primarily sold online through our website or our partners. Subscribers are required to complete their registration and add their card details. Additionally, within 30 days, subscribers are required to complete their verification.
As a subscriber, you can pay by debit card during the registration process or add a new debit card to your Casava account. Your first month subscription is free.
If your debit card is declined, we’ll inform you and try again a few days later. You can also provide us with a different card in your Casava account. However, after a grace period of 2 weeks, your account and coverage will be paused and you will not be able to make a Claim.
We will never share, sell or use your personal information with anyone or any entity except for the purposes of insurance underwriting and provision of claims services. We value and respect your privacy
Casava never stores your card information, all payments for Casava products and services are processed through our payment provider - Paystack.
At the moment, Income Protection is only available to employees of CAC registered organizations. Provided you can show evidence as an employee. However we have other products coming soon.
For the purpose of this policy, “Site” refers to Casava’s website which can be accessed at http://casava.co/; or our mobile application; “Service(s)” refers to Casava’s products and services accessed via the Site and any other platform Casava may use.
• What Personal Information do we collect?
Please note that we only collect Personal Information which you voluntarily submit to us to enable us adequately serve you. “Personal Information” is any information that personally identifies an individual or from which an individual could be identified. This may include your name, address, email address, telephone number and other information about you that you provide us through the registration process at the Site. We collect, use, store and transfer personal information to manage our relationship with our customers, employees, business partners and other third parties and to serve them better. We process personal information in compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation 2019 (NDPR). We may collect and process personal information through a variety of means, including, through your access to our Services on the mobile application or our website, employment processes, during conversations or correspondence with our representatives and comments on our websites or social media platforms. Also while using our mobile application, the following information may be collected from your device automatically: details of your device, unique device identifiers (IMEI or serial number), information about the SIM card, mobile network, operating system and browser settings. We may also require location information from your device GPS. You will be required to grant consent to enable the mobile application to access your mobile GPS. Turning off your location may render some of our Services unavailable. Furthermore, we may use in-app analytics technologies to help improve and simplify the overall app, design and Services. These tools track aggregated information about installations, in-app usage, performance measures, better reporting on application failures and uninstallations.
• What Non-Personal Information do we collect?
We collect information that cannot be used to personally identify you such as anonymous usage data, preferences you submit and preferences that are generated based on the data you submit.
To maintain and improve the quality of our Service to you, we track information provided to us by your browser when you view or use the Service, such as the type of browser you use, the device from which you connected to the Service, the time and date of access, and other information that does not personally identify you. We track this information using cookies. A cookie is a piece of information that is deposited on your computer’s hard drive by your web browser when you use our computer server. The cookies enable us to recognise you and give us information about your previous visits. We learn which advertisements bring more users to our mobile application or website. We use the other information we collect for any lawful business purpose, (including without limitation to help diagnose problems with our servers, to gather broad demographic information and to otherwise administer our website).

In addition, your account is protected by your account password. Please ensure you do not disclose your password to third parties, and you log out of your account after each use.

You have the right at any time to prevent us from contacting you for marketing purposes. When we send a promotional communication to you, you may choose to opt-out of further promotional communications by following the unsubscribe instructions provided in each promotional e-mail.

Your information is protected under the NDPR and your rights are stated in it. You are entitled to request details of the information we hold about you and how we process it. You also have a right to: (i) have the information we hold about you rectified or deleted; (ii) restrict our processing of that information; (iii) stop unauthorised transfers of your personal information to a third party; and (iv) in some circumstances, to have personal information relating to you transferred to another organisation. You also have the right to lodge a complaint in relation to our processing of your personal information with a regulatory authority.
